Pavers vs. Stamped Concrete: THE MYTH BUSTER!
Poured concrete is about as permanent as you can get. If you change your mind and want the pathway to curve instead of crook, you are looking at major demolition and repouring. Pavers may take more time to install, but they can be easily dug up, moved, or replaced. For example, you could selectively replace a few scattered pavers with fancier, decorated ones next season. You can also shrink or expand the field of pavers with no visible demarcation.
Concrete maintains a flat, even surface, so after an earthquake, frost or any other shifts in the ground, concrete cracks and must be repaired; repairs will certainly show. Pavers, since they are individually fitted with sand, not mortar, grout or cement, settle separately. They "absorb" the settling of the earth without cracking!
Concrete pavers are stronger than ordinary or stamped concrete which gives you the assurance that the pavement for your driveway, patio, or pool deck will look beautiful for a very long time. Pavers are easy to clean and require little maintenance.
MYTH: Stamped Concrete is cheaper than Pavers:
Concrete by its nature shrinks and therefore cracks. Plastic shrinkage cracks are immediately apparent, visible within 0 to 2 days of placement, while dying-shrinkage cracks develop over time.
As you can imagine, the cost of upkeep required by concrete quickly catches up to the price of paving stones, which are warranted for life. In fact, the average homeowner will spend approximately eighth to eleven dollars a square foot when replacing existing concrete!
