• Plan to complete the project in phases, which include: demolition, preparation of site, installation of base material, sand bedding installation, hardscape installation, sand installation and etc.
• The timeline for your hardscaping project depends on many factors including the size of the project, permits needed, and the approval of any homeowner associations or etc.
• As well we know in Montana, all outdoor projects are exposed to weather conditions that can lead to delays.  Think...occasional snow in August!
• Contact your contractor as soon as possible.  Keep in mind that summer and spring are usually a contractors busiest seasons.  Consider even scheduling your contractor to work on the project during their slower months.  
• Verify that all the work you’d like completed is contracted and scheduled up front. Adding additional outdoor elements will delay the schedule and add to the overall expense.
• Check with your installer to ensure that all items being used are readily available and will meet your timeframe.
• Be a kind neighbor.  Discuss with the residents of nearby residences any portions of the construction that might be disruptive so that you may share that information with them as necessary.
• For a large project completed in phases, make sure sure to plan the entire design before you begin so that you can prepare for any plumbing, electrical, landscaping or drainage needs.
• Contemplate constructing your backyard prior to any projects in the front yard to avoid harming your front yard.
• After completion of the project, go over it with your contractor to ensure the installation quality, confirm you have receipts and have registered your warranty (if applicable).
