Driveway Landscaping Ideas | Weekend Project
Step 1: Planning
Establish the location for the plantable entry. Please utilize the patterns in Layout 1A and 1B to set out the first course of blocks. This will help us determine where the grass and soil will be removed to build the base.
Step 2: Construct the Foundation Pad
Score the position of the posts and walls with a shovel. Next, take away the blocks and grass. Where the posts will be set, excavate a level pad 24 in. square, 4 in. deep. For the panels, prepare a trench 3 in. deep and 7 in. wide. Then, fill the trench with base rock. Use a hand tamper to compact the trench.
Step 3: Even the Base Rock in the Trench
Carefully even the base rock in the trench. Make certain when leveling the rock, that the area between the post and wall foundations is the same height and even with each other. Remove or add base rock to make any necessary adjustments.
Step 8: Proceed with Additional Courses
For the third course, set the blocks as shown in Layout 3. Next carry on stacking block courses. Remember to alternate between Layout 2 and 3 until you have reached your chosen height.
This illustration shows a total of 5 courses for the back wall with an additional course of corner blocks (Layout 4) to finish off the posts.
